Redevelopment of Mumbai CST Railway Station

In May 2009, Arep VIlle in partnership with Egis India and Egis Rail signed a contract for Architect and Technical Consultancy for Preparation of Master Plan and Feasibility Report for the redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station, Mumbai in and its surroundings to a world-class passenger terminal through Public Private Partnership.

The study is to lead to a Master Plan and Feasibility Report to ensure:
(a) safe and comfortable passenger services with all modern amenities catering to an average of 0.8 million passengers per day and 0.9 million passengers during seasonal peaks;
(b) superior road connectivity with the city and adequate parking within the Station premises;
(c) smooth arrival/ departure and movement of pedestrians, passenger vehicles, parcel, luggage, linen & catering material etc. within and around Station premises;
(d) superior train operation (including allied services e.g. freight, parcel, posts etc.) and modern train maintenance facilities;
(e) modern operational offices.

While the role of AREP Ville role is to lead the study primarily for the civil and architectural part based on their extensive international experience with regard to the re-development of railway stations, Egis has a substantial role in the railway related study involving the station and yard as well as to support the study based on their local knowledge and wider experience.
