Upgradation of NH-31 in Assam (NHDP)

Construction Supervision for 4 laning of NH-31, Contract Packages AS-4 and AS-5

 

The construction supervision of the 4 Laning in the State of Assam is part of the National Highway Development Programme. The scope of work involves strengthening the existing 2-lane carriageway and widening it to 4 lanes.

 

The project is located in the Kamrupa and Nalbari districts of Assam State and is a part of National Highway 31 connecting Guwahati to Nalbari. The Project basically comprises the upgrading and construction of 4 lane highways with flexible pavements, flexible overlays over the existing pavement after widening, the construction of bridges and culverts, high enbankment/elevated structures, along with existing highways.

 

The project road Guwahati to Nalbari (km1121.00 to km1065.00), 56km, 4-lane, is sub-divided into the following civil contract packages:

 

- EW-II (AS-4) – 4 Laning from km1121.00 to km1093.00 of the Guwahati to Nalbari section of NH-31:

Package length 28km, 4 lanes, type of pavement: flexible.

Minor bridges/Structure details:

No. of minor bridges: 10

No. of ROB: 1 at km1113+800, span arrangment: 6 x 20.20 + 25.0 + 17.0 + 25.2/11.0 + 31.8 + 13.0/27.0 + 22.5 + 20.6 x 6 (left carriageway) and 6 x 20.20 + 22.5 + 26.0/12.0 + 31.8 + 12.0/26.0 + 17.0 + 25.0 + 20.0 x 6 (right carriageway), pile foundations.

- Pagaldia River bridge at ch. 1066+297, bridge length: 120m, Span arrangement: 3 x 40.00, Well foundation, I-PSC Girder.
- Sessa River bridge at ch. 1068+328, bridge length: 80m, Span arrangement: 2 x 40.00, Well foundation, I-PSC Girder.
- Baralia River bridge at ch. 1083+686, bridge length: 80m, Span arrangement: 2 x 40.00, Well foundation, I-PSC Girder.
- Puthimari River bridge at ch. 1092+428, bridge length: 120m, Span arrangement: 3 x 40.00, Well foundation, I-PSC Girder.

Supervision of Construction

 

Egis India Consulting Engineers and Egis Bceom International in joint venture with STUP and AARVEE, were awarded the contract for:

  • reviewing contract documents and preparing the formal contract agreement,
  • construction supervision for the proper implementation of the project within the time schedule,
  • reviewing bituminous mix designs,
  • approving the contractor's work programme, resource level and safety precautions, handing over of the site, setting-up of supervisory and quality control systems,
  • quality control and certification of interim payments,
  • preparing the monthly progress reports,
  • preparing the variation orders, as required,
  • preparing the as-built drawings,
  • preparing the contract completion reports,
  • certifying payments in terms of quality and quantity,
  • ensuring the project planning, monitoring, reporting and financial management,
  • reviewing the safety plan & its implementation,
  • identifying training needs and preparing the training programme,
  • on-the-job training and training assessment.
