Golden Quadrilateral Project
The project is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh on National Highway 2 (NH 2) corridor connecting Delhi and Calcutta. It is part of one of the prestigeous Golden Quadrilateral project, initiated by the Prime Minister of India, connecting all the metropolitan cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta and Chennai. Its scope is to widen the existing two-lane highway to a four/six-lane divided highway, or six-lane divided highway and strengthen the existing two-lane highway.
This consultancy project consists of two contract packages:
- Package IIA: from km 393 to km 470 via Sikandara - Bara Route;
- Package IIC: from km 38 to km 115.
The new two-lane highway, 138.6 km in total length, is proposed to have a concrete pavement. Strengthening is done with a cement concrete overlay after milling of the existing carriageway from km 393 to km 448.85 (Package IIA) and from km 82 to km 115 (Package IIC). Bituminous concrete over dense bituminous macadam will be used for strengthening works from km 448.85 to km 470 (Package IIA) and from km 38 to km 82 (Package IIC), after milling of the existing carriageway and correcting the camber/profile.
The works will also include the construction of a six-lane bridge, 2 four-lane bridges and 14 two-lane bridges and strengthening of 14 existing two-lane bridges. The bridges to be built include three major multi-span bridges with length over 60 m. The project also includes about 213 culverts.
