PMAY was launched in June 2015 by the Prime Minister of India, with the objective of making ‘Housing for all’ a reality by 2022. PMAY has recently expanded its scope to cater to the housing needs of the high income group, mid-income group, besides the economically weaker sections and low-income group. Under this program, the government has promised to provide houses with water connection, 24X7 electric supply and toilet facilities.
The central government intends to achieve this goal by offering central assistance to implementing agencies.
